Case Study #3 – LASIK Surgeon Clark Weidaw, M.D.

Product History

Dr. Clark Weidaw of the Maumee Eye Clinic has been an Einstein Medical client for more than seven years. Initially, Dr. Weidaw’s services included DocShop listings and website hosting. In 2000, he also purchased a re-design of the practice’s existing site.

In 2003, Dr. Weidaw wanted to update the online image of the practice. He purchased a new 5-page customized website to help accomplish this goal. A HIPAA Compliancy Module was added in 2005 to ensure that the website adhered to federal and state HIPAA guidelines. The following year, Dr. Weidaw purchased an additional page to provide visitors with information about new services offered at Maumee Eye Clinic.

Throughout 2007, Dr. Weidaw decided to further expand his online marketing campaign by purchasing a Video Website, Call Stats, Traditional SEO, and an additional web page. These new features help set the practice apart from online competitors, and the updates have had a considerable impact on the overall performance of the Maumee Eye Clinic website.

Search Engine Marketing Results

SEO Keyword Rankings

Although Maumee Eye Clinic’s Traditional SEO campaign has only been online for two months, the practice is quickly seeing its effects. In this short period, the site has established top positions on the first three pages of Google™, Yahoo!®, and MSN® for a number of targeted keywords, and the strategy is already displaying impressive growth:

Total SEO positions increased from 57 to 65
SEO positions on Google™ increased from 32 to 41
SEO positions on Yahoo!® increased from 33 to 36
SEO positions on MSN® increased from 34 to 39

Website Visits

Website visit statistics have shown a consistent upward trend since the November 2003 launch of Maumee Eye Clinic’s new 5-page customized website. However, the most significant increase was seen immediately after the launch of the Traditional Search Engine Optimization campaign:

Prior to the launch of the Traditional SEO campaign, the site averaged 323 visits a month, but in the time since then, the site has averaged 651 visits a month – a 102 percent increase.
The site has also received an average of 169 visits with keywords a month since the launch of the Traditional SEO strategy.

DocShop Visits

Since the launch of the new Maumee Eye Clinic website in 2003, visits from Dr. Weidaw’s DocShop listings have shown impressive growth:

DocShop visits have tripled, increasing from 61 to 187.
So far this year, the site has received 1,265 visits from DocShop (an average of 181 visits per month over the last seven months).

Email statistics and Call Stats show that Maumee Eye Clinic receives a consistently high number of contacts from web visitors:

Call Stats show an average of 51 phone calls a month.
Practice receives an average of 10 valid emails a month.
